It is almost 9 months since I posted anything on my blog, because 2023 was a year like no other.
I have had multiple ambulance trips to hospital for herniated discs in my neck and lower spine; a malignant melanoma removed; plus liver, kidney and thyroid problems. Worst of all, my beloved husband of more than 51 years became so frail, requiring 24 hour care that we had no choice but to move him into a nursing home. Although extremely weak physically, he is mentally as 'sharp' as he always has been (passing all cognitive tests with 100%), so it breaks my heart that I am no longer able to physically care for him, and that we cannot spend our final years living together.
I did however manage to make all our Christmas cards, plus many birthday (and sadly) sympathy cards throughout the year. The card below uses a die I bought in a sale, and this is its first time in use.
Here's hoping 2024 brings better things to you, Jennifer! Thanks for sharing your gold stars at Christmas Kickstart!! Linda the Elf
ReplyDeleteI hope that the year 2024 will prove kinder. You certainly had a rough 2023. Great that you were able to continue with your card-making. What a clever card! Love the wreath of stars and the sentiment is perfect! Thanks for joining us over at the Holly and Ivy Challenge.
ReplyDeleteHi Jennifer, I'm so sorry to hear you had such a difficult year in 2023 and that your dear husband has had to go into nursing care. I hope things will be kinder for you this year. I don't know where the years have gone since we used to chat regularly ... life is definitely very different from how it used to be!! I myself had a break from crafting of around 7 years and have just got back into it since 2021.
ReplyDeleteI love your star wreath card - that is a really pretty die.
Hugs
