Birthday Stars

Good evening all. I hope you are all staying safe wherever you

are in this troubled world.

Do any of you find that there are one or two months during the year

where you have an overload of birthdays or other celebrations where

you are constantly in a flurry of card-making?? January and July are

those months for me.

I had not even begun to pack away my Christmas crafting items when I

needed to put my head down and tail up (not a sight for the faint-hearted!)

This card is for a young lad who lived near us before we moved into

this Retirement Village. He has had to overcome a long list of health

issues, so we think he is a little 'star'.

Baby

A few days before Christmas our vet gave birth to her first baby...

a girl, so yesterday I made this card to welcome little Olivia.

Concentrating on creating is a pleasant distraction to help  

me deal with the pain.

Of course, the card had to have an animal on it, although I am pretty sure

our vet will not have to treat any giraffes in our little beach side town.

This oh-so-cute giraffe is a freebie digital stamp by Artesanato, and I

coloured her very softly with Promarkers.

My flower arrangement is very sparkly IRL with Star Dust Stickles, 

but unfortunately the camera has not picked up the dazzle.

I completely covered the title die-cut with the Star Dust Stickles, and for

some reason the camera has picked up its sparkle.

The inside of the card co-ordinates with the front. I took this photo after the

sun had gone down, so that is why it is not as bright as the previous photos.

After several days of near average temperatures (but with high humidity), we are bracing ourselves again for a major heat-wave here in Australia, so I guess I will be staying indoors with the air conditioning on, and hopefully doing some more crafting,

BIG Hat

Hello fellow crafters,
A couple of facts for you to ↗ your stress levels - yesterday was the 301st day of the year, and two months from yesterday, Christmas and Boxing Days will just be a memory. Too much information? I thought so! 

With the next fact, MY stress levels are where the planes fly - this is the first Christmas card I have finished! EEEEEK! I have coloured all but 2 of my images, and I have bought all my papers and most embellishments, but I still have to design my cards and put them all together. Methinks I may be using a small selection from sketches I have made of cards I have made previously. I never make 2 cards the same, but hopefully by using just a few sketches, and changing colours, images, and embellishments I will not be posting Christmas cards in January.

Speaking of sketches, I used the sketch which is the theme for the October Penny Black Saturday Challenge.

I love this image, and bought the stamp 2 years ago from Blade Rubber Stamps in London, in memory of my adorable Rodolfo who passed away 4 years ago, aged 16½ . He was blind, and friends used to refer to me as his 'seeing-eye person'. Many people, including our vet, were amazed at how strong the bond was between us. 

The inside of the card co-ordinates with the front. The background paper has been in my stash for so many years, I had forgotten I had it. In 2006, I purchased an A3 sheet of the deeply embossed paper in an art shop in London, cut it into A4 sheets and 'squirrelled' it away so well that I forgot about it too. I found lots of hidden treasures recently, so hope to use much of them in the coming weeks.
