Santa's Aussie Sunset

Today I have another Design Team card I have made for 

Fat Cats Card Corner, using the Santa With Kangaroos die. 

The card is quite similar in design to the card in my last post. Again I brayered

Distress Inks onto gloss cardstock, and multilayered the matts, with the top 

one mounted on 3D tape. These colours truly typify Christmas in 

Australia...it is usually stifling hot!!

Six White Boomers

Today I have another card I have made for Kaaren at Fat Cats Card Corner.

She send me this die (which actually has only 3 kangaroos). Here in Australia, 

kangaroos are colloquially called 'boomers'. 

I brayered several different Distress Inks onto glossy cardstock, after adhering

a circle mask, punched from post-it note, to represent the moon. When I

removed the mask, I felt the moon was too stark, so I rolled the brayer

over the area with the tiny 'stain' of ink that was remaining on it.

Don't you just love the cockatoo sitting on Santa's sack of goodies!!

A popular Christmas song in Australia is 'Six White Boomers, Snow 

White Boomers), so I cut an extra 3 'boomers' to haul Santa's sleigh.

I cut the die from glittered cardstock from Catchy Crafts. It comes

in many gorgeous colours as well as white, cuts beautifully,

and the glitter does not come off at all.

In my last post I mentioned that I had a very busy time fast approaching...

well it has been and gone. Dina and Doug, who own Catchy Crafts (in Sydney),

asked me to be their demonstrator at the big annual 'Stitches and Craft Show' at

Newcastle. I have done so for them at similar shows in the past. 

The Show is held over 4 days, and while it can be frantic and exhausting, it is 

also lots of fun. I meet lots of lovely people, and one of them is a lady called 

Trish. She told me she was from Tea Gardens (a little sea-side town), and

when I told her I also live there, we discovered that she lives in the other 

Retirement Village in town, literally across the road from mine. 

So if you are reading this Trish, "Hello".

Elegant Cream and Gold

This is another of the cards I have created as a member of the

Fat Cats Card Corner design team, using the dies Kaaren sent me.

I was quite happy how this card turned out, and I think it would be

suitable for several different occasions.

I cut the flowers from Foamiran, and softly sponged them 

with Distress Inks.

Before I close I would like to send a big "hello" to Larelle, from Tenterfield. She is a friend of my dear friend of 54+ years, Diane, who introduced us during my recent visit up there. Larelle is a lovely lady, and we 'clicked' immediately. Diane showed me a birthday card Larelle had made for her, and it was BEAUTIFUL! She is a very talented lady.

Red Roses

Since I accepted the invitation to join the Design Team for 

Fat Cats Card Corner, I have been very busy creating cards for 

the lovely Kaaren, owner of FCCC. Kaaren sends me dies and/or

embossing folders with which I am required to create several cards.

This is the second card I made using this rather unusual die...the first can be

seen here. I firmly attached the metallic silver die-cut to a sheet of JAC paper, 

then sprinkled 'Rock Candy' glitter over it. This was then matted onto 

burgundy card, then onto the metallic silver paper.

A close up of the roses and buds from my stash, and the leaves

which were cut with another die that Kaaren sent me.

It is interesting that the 3 photographs were all taken within minutes of

each other, in the same position in the garden, then edited in the same

computer program...yet the roses all appear to be totally different reds.

Farewell Geraldine

While John and I have been celebrating happy events in July, a rather

sad event happened within our little court here in our Retirement Village.

A darling old couple in their 90s live 3 doors away, and their constant

companion was the cutest little doggie, a terrier called Geraldine. The

3 of them walked, albeit very slowly, a short distance past our house

every morning and every afternoon, and little Geraldine would

wag her tail for everyone she saw, as she knew she was loved 

by all, including John and I. 

Geraldine was 16+, and has been in failing health this past year, so

Ann and Neil had to make the heart-breaking decision to help her on

her journey over the Rainbow Bridge. Her 'Mummy and Daddy' loved

this simple card I made (and the thoughts behind it). 

R.I.P. Geraldine...You are much missed.

On that sad note, I will just say goodnight and thank you for visiting.
