Memories of Velvety Roses

I hope this post 'goes public' at the correct time as I have scheduled it. I have had to go into hospital for a bit of an op. for biopsies, but hopefully will be home tonight, and getting good news in a few days time. I generally react badly to anaesthetics, so thought it would be safer to schedule my post.

The weather is definitely getting more bizarre...just a few weeks ago, we were on evacuation alert because of dreadful bushfires nearby, and were experiencing temperatures in the mid to high 30s. Now we have floods after many days of continuous, torrential rain...yesterday here in the Hunter Valley had the highest rainfall, in a single day, on record. We are back in winter clothing and bedding. It is freezing cold, yet it is only 10 days or so until summer.

At Penny's Paper Crafty, we have a new challenge for you, and our
theme this week is one you all love -

'ANYTHING GOES'

A big "Thank You" to our generous sponsors, who this week are
and

I was given this lovely digi stamp, Rose Frame, by Floppy Latte Designs and immediately
thought "mmmm velvety, deep burgundy roses. Do you ever have distant memories of
some happy moment, that flash in, then out of your mind in a split second, but you
cannot quite recall the time, place and circumstance? Well, I had that experience with
these lovely roses...I can even recall the rich, heady perfume, but cannot for the life
of me remember anything else about them. Oh dear, is this a sign of getting old???

A closer look at the gorgeous roses. I coloured them with my Promarkers,
and that took quite some time, as I coloured each petal, one by one,
using 2 reds and a pink.

Inside my card, with a large area on which to write a personal message.
The cardstock I used for the layering is from the same 12x12 burgundy
sheet, but has photographed anywhere from red to black.

Addicted To Stamps and More #72 - 'Make Your Mark'
Divas By Design - 'Make It Pretty'
Songbird # 28 - 'Favourite Song' (The Rose - Bette Midler)

Santa's Sleigh

Oh my goodness, tomorrow will be the first day of August. Happy birthday to all horses, and here in Australia it is Wattle Day.

The weeks are just racing by at an alarming rate, and already it is time for
another challenge at Penny's Paper Crafty.
Our theme this week is
'ADD SOME STITCHING - REAL OR FAUX'
We have 2 lovely sponsors this week, and they are
and

I was given this traditional digi image, Santa's Sleigh Silhouette, from Floppy Latte
to play with, as well as the digi paper. The Swiss Dots paper came in six
fabulous colours.
I layered the paper, and adhered it with the base stripes both
horizontally and vertically to create more visual interest. My stitching
is faux, the white drawn with a gel pen, and the sivery grey with a
Zig Pen.
I coloured the moon with a Promarker (Primrose I think), and sponged
the edges of the white panel with Adirondack Denim.
In March, I bought the die for this reindeer from a lady at a stamp camp
I attend twice yearly. She didn't want it...can't imagine why...
I love it. This is the first time I have used it, but I am sure you
will be seeing it quite often in the next few months. That tiny
blue gem fitted perfectly into his eye socket.

Challenges:-
Lexi's Creations - 'Christmas In July'
Stamp And Create - 'Christmas In July'
Cards For Men #15 - 'Christmas In July'
Shopping Our Stash #112 - 'Use Your Oldest Punch'
(Creative Memories - Corner Rounder)

Blossoms and Fans

Hello fellow crafters, and welcome to my newest follower, Penny. We met at a Stamp Camp last weekend.
Penny's Paper Crafty has a new challenge, and our theme this week is
'RIBBON AND DIE CUTS'
Our generous sponsors this week are

I must admit when I was given the lovely Floppy Latte Design's
Oriental Beauty to play with, I wasn't sure how I was going to
bring her to life. I thought "mmm, oriental....washi paper, lots of
red, and other bright colours...", then I found this lovely paper in
my junk stash; remembered that I had a little gold fan; and the card
took over, dictating what it wanted next. I am happy that it did.
The ribbon is metallic, and very shiny, but I could not get
that to show up in the photo. I die-cut two of the bare
branches for the card front, then cut those into several
pieces, rearranging them to fit the design.
The inside of the card co-ordinates with the front. These five
flowers are punched from pearlised paper, with Liquid Pearls
centres, while the flowers on the front are die-cuts.

I would like to enter the following challenges:-
Passion For Promarkers #189 - 'From Around The World'
Creative Moments #12 'Add A Sentiment'
Fab 'n' Funky #162 - 'Add A Sentiment'

Paper - Cristina Re
Dies - Memory Box Woodland Branch; Cottage Cutz Spring Vine Wreath (flowers only used); Spellbinders Classic Rectangles

Sentiment - Wild Rose Studio Cute Greetings
Fan and ribbon from my junk stash
