Here we are, another week closer to a visit by the big fella in the red suit.

Q. Why is Christmas Day like any day in the office?

A. Because you do all the work, and the big guy in the suit gets all the credit!!

It's Wednesday, therefore it's time for another challenge at 

Penny's Paper Crafty, where our theme this time is

'FRAME A FEMALE'

You can use any method to create a frame, be it masking, a die-cut, 

embellishments, etc, but it must be an obvious frame.

I was asked to use a Sassy Studio Designs digi image, Elvira, and 

Oriental Frame, a digi frame by Delicious Doodles.

I decided to create a fairly CAS card, and thought the shapes of the

image and frame dictated a DL sized card.

I coloured Elvira and Oriental Frame with 

my Promarkers.

Inside my card is fairly simple with plenty of space for a handwritten

message. I bought this lovely lattice style ribbon at a $2 shop last week.

Briar Rose

Hello fellow crafters,
Yet another week has flown by, and we have a new challenge for you at Penny's Paper Crafty. We have chosen a theme that we know you all love

I was given a Sassy Studio Design digi image, Little Honey's Briar Rose, to play with.

The other name for Briar Rose is Aroura, or Sleeping Beauty, so I

decided to go with a princess and castle theme.

I coloured Briar Rose with Promarkers

This is what my card looks like when it is taken out of the envelope,

before the decorated front is 'propped up' to form an easel card. 

The opened card, showing the tag on which a message can be written,

and the 'pocket' which it slides into. The 'pocket' has been embossed

but the sun was so bright, the embossing hardly shows up.

Sue's Shoes

Good morning fellow crafters,
At the moment I am feeling like one of those mice on a wheel...I just can't seem to catch up. I used to hear retired people say that they don't know how they found the time to go to work, but now I totally understand. I am out so much, my pets (and even poor John), look at me some times when I come home, as if they are trying to work out who I am. There never seems to be enough hours in a day, or days in a week.

Having had my little moan, I have a card to show you. It is for my sister-in-law, Sue. She doesn't look at my blog, so it is safe to show it to you.

I have used a Sassy Studio Design digi image, 'Miranda Sassy'. The background paper is gift wrap, and  I knew it would be perfect for Sue's card, as she loves shoes. The greeting is a large peel-off sticker, and is clear and very sparkly, but try as I might, I just couldn't capture that in the photos. Likewise, with the Platinum Stickles on the scallops.

I used Promarkers to colour 'Miranda'.

The inside of my card is very plain.

Under the Sea

Hello fellow crafters,

For the first time this season, the last 2 days have had a lovely autumn feel to them (happy dance!!!!). I love autumn - pleasant days and cool nights snuggled under the doona, while the garden is full of colour, and all the plants aren't burnt and limp. 

Enough of this waxing lyrical...again it is time for another challenge at Penny's Paper Crafty, and our theme this week is 

'GINGHAM AND/OR CHECKS'

I was given this cute image, Little Honey's Little Mermaid, by Sassy Studio Designs to play with, and at first I wasn't sure how I would incorporate gingham or checks into my design. However, last week while I was at my stamp camp, I saw these gorgeous elasticised ribbons in the 'shop'. They reminded me so much of the swimming costumes little girls wore in the 1950s. My first 2 piece swimsuit was pink and white gingham, and extremely modest by today's standards, I must say.

The background is Core'dinations cardstock, which I spritzed lightly with water, embossed it with a Fiskars plate, then lightly sanded it to accentuate the 'waves'. Some colours do not photograph true to life...IRL the rectangle behind the image is almost the same pink as that of the ribbon.

I used my Promarkers to colour The Little Mermaid.

        

A closer look at the shells, pearls, starfish, and the seaweed which I created using a Marianne die, and a Memory Box die. The 'seaweed' was cut from the same sheet of paper as the mat, despite the colour differences.

As usual I decorated the inside of my card to match the front. That gorgeous shiny paper is from a roll of book-covering paper that I bought years ago. I bought 3 or 4 rolls of different colours, but all of them change colour as they are moved about, and slightly reflect any colours nearby e.g. I was wearing a bright pink top when I took the photos (bottom RH corner, above).

Ballroom Sassy

Hello fellow crafters,
Today's card is for a very special friend, Diane, and I just wanted to make this card to tell her how much I value our friendship. We have been friends for an amazing 50 years this week!!! We met during our first week in High School, and our mutual love of horses and music had us bonding immediately. Diane was my bridesmaid, and I hers. She and her husband came to our 40th Wedding Anniversary celebration last year. Geographically we have lived long distances apart since we left school, but have maintained our deep friendship through 'thick and thin'. Happy 50th Anniversary dear friend!

A closer look. I was pleased at how the Platinum Stickles

shows up in her 'buckle', necklace and hairpin. I

applied it with a 'pokey tool'.

That sparkly DP is just so lucious, I kept my embellishments

to a minimum, so as to not hide it too much.
